Rated 4 out of 5 by Sikkdays from Affordable mixer for in-studio podcastIn a quest for better sound, and preamp I purchased this mixer for a podcast. First things first, firewire is the best route if you plan on using Skype or Hangouts to add guest to your show in separate tracks, not a USB one like this. My cohost has a larger firewire mixer, as I said I use the Behringer to get better sound and occasionally add an in-studio guest. The Xenyx preamp is very good. I have an SM 58 & an MXL 770 that I am able to capture great sound from. I can do a mix-minus with my cohost using the board's fx send, but I am recording to a Zoom H4n and not a DAW or computer. I'm not entirely sure what use the USB connection as I have not successfully been able to separate tracks using it and Adobe Audition. Basically, with the USB connected to a computer you have 2 options, send the signal from the computer to the board or the other way around, but not both. For that you need a firewire mixer. The only control you have over the USB signal is a single button to send the USB audio to the main mix or to send the main mix to the USB. If there's a model without USB, you may want to look into that. I bought this as it was a few dollars more & thought I would experiment. Maybe you'll have better luck than me. Also, no power button, either it is always on, or you have to physically unplug it.
